Brooke & Crocheting for a Cause
During finals week, Brooke crocheted “Be Kind Bees” and “Good Luck Ducks” keychains to encourage peers to care for their mental well-being. Drawing on their own experience with exam stress and support from the Student Accessibility and Support Center (SASC), they donated 75 Be Kind Bees to SASC and personally distributed additional bees and ducks across campus—over 120 keychains in total.
Brooke intentionally kept the effort anonymous to center the message, not recognition: a small reminder that students are doing their best and that someone is looking out for them. Brooke’s project shows how simple, handmade gestures can brighten stressful moments and build a more compassionate campus community.
